Site Size: 7,400 square feet

Program: Located in the village of Boudry, Switzerland, the lush, narrow site is surrounded by a multifamily housing unit, a church, and an old mansion. Despite these neighbors, the client desired maximum privacy and a flexible space that could accommodate a house for a single family plus a rental apartment.

Solution: The three-story, reinforced concrete structure is painted a metal color and has a garden at the rear. The separate rental apartment occupies the first floor, with the bedrooms and main entrance on the second level. The third floor contains dining and living spaces and two private terraces for scenic views of vine fields and mountains. The house was completed in December 2010.
