This 51,000 square-foot facility was designed and constructed in a span of eleven months from inception to grand opening. The tight time schedule and budget demanded a simple, yet rigorous design approach. Inspired by the college's technical education program, the design represents the high-tech nature of the building's mission and use.
The architects constructed two new additions, totaling 35,000 square feet, on an underutilized, one-story building. These additions house computer classrooms, offices, a café, an open study lounge at the east, and training workshops at the west.

Clad in silver, horizontal ribbed metal panels, the building features sustainable design strategies. Classrooms are organized around the daylit, double-height atrium space. Roof overhangs shade upper windows and all south windows have aluminum sunshades supported on steel blades. Major public spaces and classrooms employ a dimming system to control electric lighting based on available daylight. Operable classroom windows are provided to take advantage of natural ventilation.

The central atrium provides a focus for student interaction. The rhythm of the exposed steel structure and play of daylight from the clerestory windows enliven the space. Economical concrete floors and perforated modular fiberboard ceiling panels create a poetic play of light and shadow.
