Known for its specialty menu of fine seafood and dim sum, this restaurant was designed within the framework of a former 10,000-square-foot restaurant. Programmatically, it consists of a main dining room, sushi bar (with separate kitchen), outdoor patio, bar, cigar room, private dining rooms, and restaurant support areas.

The architect wanted to design a restaurant with a strong Asian cultural influence without pandering to stereotypes. This was accomplished through the use of powerful spatial statements, the unabashed use of color, sequences evoking tradition and mystery, and sensitivity to materials. An elongated fish tank serves as a wayfinding tool, which follows the curve from entry to dining area. Abstractions of traditional oriental lanterns provide a gentle wash of light amid sculptural divider walls. Graceful curvatures of partitions and millwork work together to lend an air of excitement and movement through the space.

Designed with the idea of "reuse and recycle" in mind, the new facility utilizes past improvements within the existing building shell, including kitchen equipment, lighting, and mechanical equipment. The restaurant provides a comfortable, usable space in the harsh desert environment. A large roof canopy shades the exterior patio from the summer sun, creating a visual and thermal transition between the hot, bright exterior to the cooler, darker interior. Evaporative cooling is used at the exterior to create a comfortable, tempered microclimate.
