In order to create a restaurant concept
with a unique identity in the city of Stockholm, the Alhbolm
family and former restaurant manager Magnus Wennerberg joined
together to transform the building at Linnegatan 18. The team
gave the architect total freedom to develop their vision for
an international hotel lobby, albeit one without the hotel.
Unhampered by the design conservatism
typical to the Stockholm pub environment, the architects devised
a two-stage project. The upper floor with its courtyard opened
first, followed by the lower floor lobby. The restaurants
composition, full of round shapes and warm materials, creates
an atmosphere of transparent sensualism. A scenographic approach
to lighting changes the character of the space when evening
approaches.
Owner Jesper Ahlbom calls his pub "a
modern version of a sober and international restaurant."
Architect Ari Leinonen notes "it is only thanks to an
attentive cooperation among the client, architect, and contractor
that the design could be as complete as it is." With
its opening, Stockholm asserts its place in the field of smart,
stylish restaurant design.
