This trendy "chef’s club" in the East Village for industry types to gather after work, industry (food) has quickly evolved into a Manhattan mainstay for foodies, fashionistas, and hipsters yearning for a perfect mix of downtown cool and upscale culinary sophistication. The restaurant has amazed patrons and critics alike with its ski chalet inspired bilevel, 3,000-square-foot interior that successfully combines outdoor chic with a slick interior. Designed by award-winning architect, Paul Carroll, who also designed NV and Ohm, industry (food) boasts an interior composed of natural materials combined with cutting-edge lighting, fabrics, and textiles.

The restaurant’s two levels consist of separate dining spaces that are intimate, but can also work together to create a large dining experience. The front bar area boasts a glowing amber tiger’s eye cut-glass bar for diners and bar patrons to relax and enjoy the bartender’s signature cocktails such as the applelicious and ginger cosmo.

The main dining area extends above the downstairs lounge featuring banquette tables complemented by buttery soft jewel-toned velvet seats. A special element in the upstairs dining area is the balcony, which boasts a ski lift inspired booth backed by a sliding window. The area directly overlooks the downstairs atrium-enclosed pinewood bar and lounge. The downstairs atrium features live birch trees growing out of the pinewood bar’s copper counter top, mixed with a retractable movie screen in the background. For private dining, the leather room offers a twenty-seat private dining area made luxurious with black leather and suede upholstered wall and glowing amber tables with a tortoise shell pattern. Unique to the New York dining scene, industry (food) also features downtempo lounge DJs spinning during the dining hours to create a welcoming, relaxed ambience to complement the unforgettable décor.
