Nike’s new campus is the result of a unique client/architect relationship. The client and the architect introduced each other to their disparate careers: the world of design and the business world of sports and fitness. Four years after its design inception, the finished campus reflects the cooperation among all of the project’s participants.

The multiphased design and construction process required a delivery method that ensured the highest quality of design, construction, schedule, and cost control. This required bringing the contractor into the design process at an early stage—this partnering arrangement, encouraged by the owner and embraced all team members, helped simplify a complex and challenging project.

Landscapes range from natural wooded areas to formal gardens. The buildings emphasize the spaces in between them, and promote respect for the natural environment while encouraging serendipitous social and professional gatherings. The interiors reflect a need for efficiency and collaboration. Throughout the campus, the company’s signature branding and iconography are powerful aesthetic features.

The campus consists of three new office buildings totaling 375,000 square feet, along with a 450,000 square-foot product design/research and development center containing two restaurants, a café, and a design library. An athletic center, conference, and performing arts center, as well as a 1500-car parking structure, complete the master plan.
