Program: The 710,000-square-foot electrical power station includes a gas turbine, steam turbine, air coolers, demineralization tank, common electrical building, rainwater basin, electrical substation, filtered water tank, electrical substation, and an administration and control room building.

Design concept and solution: The challenge was to design an industrial park in the context of the southern Italian countryside. In order to create the corporate identity requested by the client, while acknowledging the vast landscape, the architects designed a visual representation of the energy produced by the power station into the facade. Horizontal galvanized steel modular rails in three blue tonalities clad the main power station. The colored facade imitates chromatic frequency to gradually break up the base volume. The darkest shades of blue align the base of the building, while lighter shades of blue are incorporated above, reducing the building’s impact on they skyline.
