Program: A 290,000-square-foot glass bottle manufacturing facility with access-controlled entry, truck loading area, products warehouse, production area, restrooms, and electrical substation.
Design concept and solution: The Cristalchile factory is situated in the windy Llay-Llay valley. To help mitigate the effects of the wind, the architects designed a sinuous roof. This curving roofline also situates the factory in the context of the surrounding mountains. The metal-paneled and glass curtain facade exposes the production process and provides daylight, enhancing the work environment.
