Hotel ME Barcelona is a new 300,000-square-foot tower on Barcelona’s Avinguda Diagonal, where it echoes the dynamism of Barcelona’s vertical landmarks such as the Sagrada Familia. The 380-foot-high tower, clad in anodized aluminum, contains 257 guest rooms in a rectangular parallelepiped. Its form is chiseled so that one portion cantilevers 65 feet above street level to define the hotel’s entrance. A cubic volume at the rear of the tower houses the lobby, restaurants, meeting rooms, and bars. Red, blue, and green glass, distributed at random along the façade, turn the tower at night into an urban lantern, a luminous symbol of Barcelona.
