Located in Manhattan’s burgeoning Meatpacking district, the freestanding building, setback from the street on each side, is clad in zinc-colored metal panels and glass set in matching frames. This richly articulated façade of projecting bays and balconies creates a constantly changing shadow pattern throughout the day.

Guests and visitors enter the lobby through a motorized, two-story glass revolving door, flanked by internally illuminated glass columns. The ground floor offers a luxury restaurant/bar as well as a spa. Unifying this level, a canopy inspired by those of nearby meatpacking plants wraps around the corner of Ninth Avenue and 13th Street.

Inside, flamed granite interspersed with light squares adds drama to the floors. Natural wood surrounds the elevator doors and enlivens the front of the reception desk in a series of compounded curves topped with concrete. The double height lobby lowers nears the entrance of the restaurant, creating a sense of mystery and excitement. In the bay window suites, the decor of the room is kept subtle and minimalist. However, careful choices of color, texture and materials create a look of softened modernism. Sheets of backlit glass replace conventional doors in most rooms, while Carrara marble contrasts with large slabs of ceramic material in the bathrooms.

As the hotel’s crowning feature, the rooftop terrace contains a hospitality suite, bar, and open space with sweeping views in three directions. The opposite end boasts an outdoor swimming poor in a year-round enclosure.
