ARCthe.hotel is a former Howard Johnson
Hotel that has been transformed into a 114-room luxury hotel
with character. Changes in the interior reproportion the hotel
in both height and depth. The front of the building, refaced
in French limestone, has been dressed to counteract the dreariness
of the urban landscape of this business district by opening
up the lobby through a large expanse of glass. The lobby itself
is intimate with private seating areas, so a variety of activities
can occur simultaneously. An upper lobby continues the comfort
theme as a lounge/library, where patrons can enjoy quiet time
for reading, work, breakfast, client meetings, or cocktails.
Canadian Landscape art is displayed generously throughout
the hotel and an art canvas designed by Moss and Lam and African
sculpture by Ethnic Designs, Miami, is displayed in the lobby.
Custom-made furniture and fixtures composed of natural materials
extend the overall design theme of luxury and unify the various
interior spaces. Additional amenities include a restaurant
and fitness area.
