Program: 64,000-square-foot civic center, which includes exhibition areas, meeting halls, a bioclimatic agency office, offices for neighborhood associations, a technology training center, a cafe, an interactive environmental park, and a public library.

Design concept and solution: The architects transformed an obsolete concrete parabola-shaped industrial building into a cultural space by inserting a series of new facilities in a long row running the length of the old structure. A single metal construction protrudes into the exterior and forms the reference point and spatial orientation for the complex. New exterior glazing along with translucent glass interior partitions bring light inside, while new ventilation louvers improve air circulation and help save energy.

Gross square footage:  64,000 sq. ft.

Total construction cost: 5.900.000€
