Shanghai World Toilet Expo ­ October 2005
Each flush of a toilet consumes six liters of water. Multiply that by 1.3 billion people – the population of China – and you’ll understand why the country is looking for water-saving alternatives to the usual commode. Milan Furniture Fair ­ July 2005
Pierced, punched, die-cut, lacerated: Many products unveiled at last April’s Milan Furniture Fair displayed a penchant for perforation. Louise Campbell’s Prince chair for Hay, for example, featured cutouts that evoked a child’s paper snowflake made in crafts class, but its black rubber surface put a sinister spin on the whimsy. Belgium Design Show ­ February 2005
The biennial Belgian design show Interieur is a small but highly regarded event that has quietly been taking place since 1968. The 19th edition welcomed over 100,000 visitors to the Flemish city of Kortrijk last October. Read on.
