Between professionals and a curious public, Milan’s Salone del Mobile drew over 300,000 visitors this past April. While the 2010 edition of the greatest design show on earth may be most remembered for a pesky volcano that stranded the vast majority of those visitors, the longer-than-anticipated week-long event had them scouring the chic Italian city—from the fairgrounds in the northern suburb of Rho to the newest design destination in the former industrial district of Lambrate. Next year, the fair celebrates its 50th anniversary from April 12-17.
