Pratt Institue, School of Architecture

St. Nicholas, the 83-year-old Greek Orthodox church bordering the WTC site was demolished by the collapse of the WTC towers. The church was housed in a nondescript four-story residential structure on Cedar Street. The students have been challenged to recapture, through their architectural proposals, the essence of what was there, while addressing the broader issues of memory, commemoration, and meaning.

—Theo. David, FAIA, Professor
