What can an architectural class investigate and produce
that can possibly address the void left by recent events?
How can we overcome the profound impotence this tragedy has
instilled in ourselves and in any creative act? The third
year graduate architecture studio of Cal Poly Pomonabeginning
two weeks after the eventvoted unanimously to investigate
these and other issues by directly confronting the potential
paralysis (or worse, denial) that this situation has produced
through the only means available to themcreative action.
In the course of ten weeks, the sudents proposed a myriad
of masterplan options and potential uses for the site, along
with specifc architectural proposals. This compilation of
their work is a gift to you, and a tribute to the future.
