Pataki and Bloomberg support Libeskind plan for WTC

The New York Times reports today that New York Governor George Pataki supports the World Trade Center design by Daniel Libeskind. Last week, Mayor Michael Bloomberg expressed his support for the Libeskind plan as well. Governor Pataki’s support would carry a lot of weight in the decision process because he jointly controls the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey with the Governor of New Jersey.

The Times also notes that key people with the Port Authority and the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) are said to support the Libeskind design.

Officials have not yet seen final modifications to the two finalist plans by Libeskind and Think, however. The Port Authority and LMDC are expected to select a winning scheme late next week.
