Notes from Suzanne Stephens, Special Correspondent

On May 29, Rome's Campidoglio, the great urban piazza designed by Michelangeloin the 1540s, provided an appropriately elegant setting for the ceremony awarding the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2002 to Glenn Murcutt, the Australian architect. A reception and dinner followed at the Palazzo Colonna, one of the grandest of the city's 18th-century palaces.
