2007 AIA Architecture Firm Award Goes to Leers Weinzapfel
December 8, 2006
For the first time, the American Institute of Architects has awarded the AIA Architecture Firm Award to a woman-owned practice. This year, the recipient of this highest honor to a firm doing work for at least 10 years is Boston-based Leers Weinzapfel Associates. The AIA Board of Directors chose the practice, led by partners Andrea P. Leers, FAIA, Jane Weinzapfel, FAIA, Joe Pryse, AIA, and Josiah Stevenson, AIA, for its elegant, site-specific design solutions as well as its contributions to the public realm. Leers Weinzapfel was featured prominently in "Not Only Zaha," the December 2006 RECORD feature written magazine deputy editor Suzanne Stephens; this most recent accomplishment will be feted at the American Architectural Foundation Accent on Architecture Gala, which will be held on February 9 at the National Building Museum.
