Architect Hays Town Dies

Beloved Louisiana architect Hays Town died on January 6 at age 101. Town, who grew up in Lafayette, LA and graduated from Tulane Architecture School in the 1920's, specialized in residential architecture. His designs helped form much of the aesthetic in Baton Rouge's residential neighborhoods, and his style, which reused old building materials and merged modernism and vernacular architecture, was quite unique. He also designed several churches and university buildings. He is survived by two children, nine grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren.
