New York Public Library Revises Plan for Foster Renovation

The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that the New York Public Library has revised its plans for a Norman Foster-designed, $300-million renovation of its flagship 5th Avenue building. The Foster plan (shown above) drew fierce criticism for removing the stacks beneath the reading room in the library's 1911 Carrère and Hastings main branch. The new scheme will be unveiled this fall and incorporate the stacks as "a prominent feature," library president Anthony Marx told the Journal.
