May 2002 updated
KONE's EcoSystem is a family of AC gearless elevators. The technology saves electricity by lowering power consumption by about 40 percent, compared to conventional AC-powered traction elevators. The EcoDisc, a compact and lightweight permanent-magnet motor, supplies the power. Unlike hydraulic elevators, EcoSystem requires no hydraulic fluid, a powerful groundwater contaminate.

The KONE ECO3000 escalator, recently introduced to the North American market, saves space, and reduces oil consumption and energy. The escalator offers a smaller footprint, a wide selection of finishes, and the 96 percent efficient KONE ECO3000 Drive System. A compact, chainless drive eliminates the need required in standard escalators to lubricate the drive chain, and the optional KONE EcoStart conserves energy by adjusting voltage and current up to 120 times per second in response to escalator workload.

April 2003
The KONE ECOMOD Complete Escalator Modernization solution offers a systematic way to replace working components of existing escalators with new technology while avoiding significant disruptions and construction costs that can be associated with conventional escalator replacement. The system is comprised of new modular components that fit inside the existing escalator truss and offers lower life cycle costs, quiet operation, and lower energy consumption.
