Giants Causeway Visitor Centre
Northern Ireland, 2009
This 19,375-square-foot building will be the gateway for the public to come and enjoy the Giant’s Causeway—a World Heritage site and national nature reserve, and Northern Ireland’s premier tourist attraction. The site and 15 miles of footpaths along the Causeway coastline are owned and maintained by the National Trust. The architects proposal is to create new facilities that form a passage—a convergence of routes that lead to the crest of the ridge overlooking the cliffs of the Causeway Coast. The passage will lead from the railway station road and ascend gradually to the ridge.
