Living in the Bay Area, with its dynamic interactions between technological and economic ups and downs and its politically involved citizens, has given Lee a strong interest in local housing policy and in building housing at all market levels, especially affordable. Although her career has focused on multifamily housing, her experience also includes adaptive reuse of historic buildings, and design of laboratories and other technically demanding space types. Lee is a licensed architect in the state of California, and a member of the AIA and the Organization of Women Architects and Design Professionals.
